LEARN MOREIf you are looking for guidance for organising and teaching your own community cookery classes, take a look at our Good Food Cooking Skills Handbook and the accompanying resources.
If you are already running cooking classes and want help to advertise your classes then get in touch mail@gfo.org.uk and we can add you to our database of cooking classes across Oxfordshire (Coming soon to our website).
If you’d like to run your own cooking sessions but don’t have access to a fully equipped teaching kitchen, our Cooking Course in a Box (We are still adding to the kits, but they contain lots of basics which enable you to run a cooking session with several participants in a venue that has some of the basics, or a cooking demo in any place - even outdoors!). Please get in touch for a full inventory list.
Kitchen knives, chopping boards and whetstone
Cooking utensils and cutlery
Teatowels, cloths and GFO aprons
Camping gas cookers and electric hotplate
Height-adjustable tables and gazebo (currently only in the kit stored at Makespace Oxford)
If you’re picking up the kit from Makespace Oxford, you could borrow a cargo bike or bike trailer at the same time to help you transport the kit from our neighbours at the Share Oxford Library of Things.
Kits are available to borrow free of charge if used for community cooking events that are free to attend. They can currently be picked up from the GFO Office at Makespace Oxford, from Abingdon or from Chipping Norton. Get in touch mail@gfo.org.uk to find out more about the kits.
We love cooking and sharing our love of cooking with others, so we created the Good Food Cooking Framework as a comprehensive guide, bringing together everything you need in one place – consistent messages for healthy, affordable and sustainable cooking. It includes learning theory and top tips from fellow experts on how to run high quality and successful cooking sessions.
If you use this handbook as a guide and framework, you will be able to demonstrate a basic standard for your sessions to funders and commissioners, maintain your reputation in providing high quality cooking sessions, and most importantly create dynamic and varied courses for your participants. We hope you enjoy it!
